June 2011 Results

Greetings fellow CSBA Members! I hope this month’s newsletter finds you are all enjoying the start of the summer!

On June 11th CSBA hosted our fourth club tournament of the 2011 season on Stockton Lake. It has been a few years since our club held a tournament on these waters. From what I understand some, (and we won’t name any names of course,) have somewhat of a love/hate relationship with this particular body of water. That and some scheduling conflicts had our regular tournament participation down somewhat from previous tournaments this year. Still, 12 fine fishermen made it down to test their skills against the Stockton bass.

Pre-fishing reports indicated LOTS of fish caught, the vast majority being between 14 and 14 ¾ inches long! It would prove to be the skill in finding the bigger fish that would make the difference at weigh-in!

Returning to the winners circle after a long hiatus, Garry Gustafson took top honors weighing in 5 Stockton bass tipping the scales to 9.93 pounds! Garry originally intended to fish as a non-boater because this was “not his lake”, but switched due to the need for boaters. Fortunately Garry he drew the smoking hot Bryant Haddock as his partner who is more familiar with this lake and was able to put them on the fish! Garry indicated they fished main lake points all day catching fish from 2 feet deep in the mornings to 12 feet deep later in the day. Garry boated his fish on 3/16 oz jig heads with 6” green pumpkin worms fished shakey head style. Garry had his limit by 8:45 am and culled 4 times throughout the day. Great job Garry, congratulations!

Taking second honors was Jim Terrell. Jim also figured out the fish were holding on main lake points. His sack of 4 keepers pushed the scales to 8.54lbs and included the day’s boater big bass at 3.43 lbs! Jim used ½ oz football head jigs and spinnerbaits to boat his keepers. Jim indicated he broke off a fish on his jig that cost him the win! The one that got away!! Regardless it was a fine finish, congratulations Jim!

Rounding out the paying spots was the smoking hot Bryant Haddock! Fresh off his win on Smithville last month, Bryant returns to the top spots taking 3rd place with his 4 fish sack weighing 8.03 lbs which included the day’s non-boater big bass that went 2.63 lbs. Bryant indicated he caught his fish on a green pumpkin senko fished in 6 to 12 feet of water off main lake points. Nice job again Bryant!

Rounding out the rest of the field

4th place, Pat Greisen, 3 bass, 6.39 lbs.

5th place, Mike Powell, 3 bass, 5.69 lbs.

6th place, Bryan Penrod, 2 bass, 4.61 lbs.

7th place, Deon Hockensmith, 2 bass, 3.42 lbs.

8th place, Paul Boesel, 1 bass, 2.26 lbs.

9th place, Darren Lofts, 1 bass, 1.98 lbs.

10th place, Larry Hedenskog, Morgan McLain, Bill Howell, 0 bass.

Big thanks to Bryant Haddock and Mike Powell for stepping up and helping out with the weigh-in!

Unfortunately we weren’t able to get any pictures from the Stockton tournament, so here’s what I was doing while you guys were battling it out on Stockton….
